Into the future with solid roots: laying of the foundation stone for the new Science Park of the Sant'Anna School in Pisa. 'It is a historic moment for our community'
Work has begun on the construction of the new Scientific Park of the Sant'Anna School in San Giuliano Terme, a short distance from the historic headquarters in Pisa. The foundation stone-laying ceremony took place on Monday, 20 May at 11.00 a.m. in the presence of Rector Sabina Nuti; Director General Alessia Macchia, Icop CEO Piero Petrucco, the mayor of San Giuliano Terme, the mayor of Pisa, and the president of the Region Tuscany.
The start of work comes just a few weeks after the signing of the contract with the partner in the public-private partnership operation, the grouping of companies coordinated by Icop, a Udine-based company well-known in the construction world, with the participation of Camst Group and Ideal Service. The work envisages the construction of the four buildings, out of the total of seven envisaged by the 'master plan', in a total of 27 months. The overall project for the new campus, which envisages significant contributions from the Ministry for Universities and Research and the Region Tuscany, envisages investments of 52.5 million euro and an overall value of the concession to the private partner, including the cost of management and maintenance services for 20 years, of approximately 118.5 million euro.

"The initial project, which dates back more than ten years, envisaged the construction of a single building. It has been a long journey, full of bureaucratic obstacles, but it offers a great opportunity for the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna and for the entire university system of Pisa," says Pierdomenico Perata, former rector of the Sant'Anna School from 2013 to 2019 (during his term of office the School launched the project of the new Park).

These projects represent the future and we are very happy to have embarked on this path with such an important institution as the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna,' comments Piero Petrucco, CEO of Icop.
"Thanks to the public-private partnership signed with Icop, the Sant'Anna School is finally able to realise a work that had already been planned for a few years," says Alessia Macchia, director general of the Sant'Anna School.

It was a great team effort that confirms how San Giuliano Terme is becoming an area of research and services," commented the mayor of San Giuliano Terme.
"The area where the new Scientific Park of the Sant'Anna School will be built is located a hundred metres from the town of Pisa, in an area of great development where other important poles for the University, such as the new faculty of Biology, will be created. We are also trying to strengthen the area in terms of infrastructure with the new tramway project,' comments the mayor of Pisa.
